Move over, Silicon Valley. Recently, London has become a major technology hub. Between 2009 and 2012, the number of tech companies in London grew by 76 percent. These companies have congregated in a cluster in an area of East and Central London known as East London Tech City.

Tech City has the third-largest cluster of tech startups in the world after San Francisco and New York City. The meteoric growth of Tech City has created thousands of jobs for tech professionals looking to relocate to London. In fact, Oxford Economics estimates that London will add 46,000 digital jobs to its economy in the next decade. Here are three of London’s most promising tech companies and the jobs they’re currently offering.

Switch Concepts

Switch Concepts revolutionized the advertising industry when it came up with the concept of real-time bidding on online advertising space. Rather than buying in bulk, companies using Switch can buy space instantly when certain visitors log onto web pages. From 2009 to 2014, Switch’s sales increased by an impressive 10,477 percent. Switch Concepts is always recruiting talented people, including QA testing professionals, software engineers, and digital marketers.

Shazam Entertainment Limited

In January 2015, startup Shazam reached “unicorn” status, with a valuation of $1 billion. Remember the old days when you heard a great song but had no way of finding out the title or artist? Shazam made that dilemma a thing of the past with its app that identifies songs with smartphones’ microphones. Shazam now has more than 100 million users monthly around the world. Their London office is currently hiring for the following positions:

  • Android engineer
  • IT support manager
  • Java developer
  • Service engineer
  • Software engineer (tools)

It’s hard to believe that Hopster, a children’s TV and learning game app founded in 2012, is younger than most of its audience members. In April 2015, Hopster went global, launching its app in more than 100 countries. For its first two years, Hopster was only available in the United Kingdom, where it has been installed more than 265,000 times. Hopster is currently hiring for these positions:

  • QA engineer
  • Senior mobile developer
  • Back-end software engineer
  • Communications and partnerships manager

If you’re interested in a tech job in a booming tech hub, a move to London is a savvy career choice. With so many up-and-coming tech companies to choose from, you’ll have plenty of options and ample room for growth.
