Perhaps most well known for being home to Heathrow Airport Hounslow is one of those London neighborhoods most people enjoy calling home.  Located on the far western edge of London Hounslow is a great option for families moving from America looking for a slower pace of life while still remaining connected to the city.  There are many great amenities in Hounslow, most of which are not in the tourist guides.

Boston Manor House

Americans in search of a classic British manor need go no further than the Boston Manor House.  Built in the early seventeenth century in the Jacobean style this architectural masterpiece is now open to the public free of charge.  Guests can admire the well-appointed staterooms with beautiful artwork displayed throughout the home as well as mantles depicting Biblical scenes.  The home was even visited by reigning monarchs, King William IV and Queen Adelaide, a rare occurrence.

Redlees Artist Studios

Hounslow offers local artists and craftspeople an opportunity to work, sell and educate in Redlees Artist Studios, a converted Victorian stable which has been transformed to more than three dozen independent studios.  The public is invited to meet the artists and participate in educational course offered throughout the year.  For Americans just recently moved to London a visit to explore traditional and local arts is a great family outing.

Hounslow Urban Farm

Created to educate urban people about farm life Hounslow Urban Farm is one of the largest farms in all of London.  Covering over twenty-nine acres visitors to the farm can participate in a variety of hands-on and educational activities while learning about farm life and farm animals.  With a variety of animals on the farm including many breeds not commonly seen anymore a trip to Hounslow Urban Farm is long due.

Finding the perfect home in one of the many neighborhoods can be a chore especially when moving with a family.  While some neighborhoods receive a lot of press and publicity like Chelsea and Kensington other London neighborhoods quietly continue to provide wonderful homes and lifestyles for families from around the world.  When searching consider Hounslow with all it has to offer.
