We live in a point and click environment, don’t we? No, I’m not just talking about on our laptops. I’m also talking about the way we wander around town and take pictures of whatever interests us at the time and then post them on social media. Now, granted any idiot can do it. How hard is it to just point at something and click and apply an appropriate filter before posting it? As it turns out, harder than you think.

Creativity has a price. You see, it takes a lot of effort to get that perfect camera angle—not just on our selfies—but on our pictures of our world. Once we get the angle right and the filter right and the caption right, well then, it’s not ours anymore. We’ve posted it for the masses and they consume it greedily.

Well, this blog aims to make your efforts a little easier. I mean, you’re living in the Big Smoke and there are countless sights to behold and pictures to be taken. They are scattered throughout the great city of London just waiting for your click. So where are these selfie masterpieces guaranteed to get you likes?

Leadenhall Market

This is simply a beautiful space offering a wonderful array of busy streets, office spaces, stores, and cafes known the world over as Lendhall Market. It is an amazing place to catch a photo worthy of Instagram. It is rife with incredibly peculiar architecture, vibrant decorative flair, and amusing signs throughout.

So, where to go for the photo op?

There are two different ways to capture a great shot from this location. Each spot depends on the type of background you want to have in your picture. If you’d like to capture some of the hustle and bustle of the crowds during the business week then definitely come Monday through Friday. However, if you’d rather capture the wonderful surrounding architecture, then come on the weekends and you can capture it all without distractions.

The Shard

While the Shard near the London Bridge was, at one time, the tallest building in Europe, it no longer holds that title. That’s not to say it still isn’t impressive and it remains the tallest building in London. There are countless panoramic views of the entire city that will be ‘like’ worthy once posted on social media. Come up on a sunny day or on a cloudy afternoon. No matter what the weather there are lovely scenes to capture.

Peggy Porschen

So, you’re on a quest to find a cupcake like no other across this fair land? Well, you’ve just found it. The cupcakes offered here border on the illegal and definitely roam the lands of decadence. Calling on foodies looking to score a great shot of some London wares, this is the place.

But that’s not the only reason you should come.

You see, it’s not just the cupcakes. Don’t get me wrong they are incredibly delicious but it is also the interior and exterior architectural designs that remain eye catching. There is a lovely blend of floral decorations including a wonderful mix of purple and pink. For selfie aficionados and bloggers alike, you won’t be disappointed.

Hillgate Place

So, where might one of the plushiest streets be in all of London? Well, it’s easy enough to find and if Peggy Porschen wasn’t quite pretty enough for your perfect shot, then this short stroll through Ladbroke Square to the lovely Hillgate Place is where you should go. It’s just a five walk to one of the most beautifully colored streets around. The houses are incredibly colorful to the point of almost looking unreal. Between the beautiful colors and the geometrically narrow streets, the architecture can be incredible.

The British Museum

I think it goes without saying, but I’ll say it again. The British Museum is an architectural marvel. Photos taken of the lovely interior will easily garner some well-earned Instagram likes and become a fine additional to your delightful feed. The Exterior has beautiful detail and can offer a great addition as well.

I know we haven’t even talked about what the museum houses but yes, the collection of items inside will offer selfie connoisseurs a chance to snap some impressive selfies. Afterall The British museum has one of the world’s finest collections on display year-round.

So, if you need something to do out of the ever-changing weather of London, then why not come down to the British Museum and snap a few pictures for your Instagram feed. It doesn’t cost anything and the exhibits are quite singular. Plus, while you’re clawing your way to Instagram fame while posting, you might actually learn something from the exhibits. What a bonus!

Sky Garden

This is such a bizarre structure and yet it is such a singular structure to behold, you can’t help but be impressed by it. Take as many pictures as you’d like of it but the truly breathtaking sight is at the very top. The Sky Garden.

So, the good news is, it doesn’t cost anything to get in. The not so good news, is you’ll have to book an arrival time well in advance. The best times to catch some incredible photos is at sunset. Between your surroundings and the setting sun, you’re bound to catch something Instagram worthy.

Any Pub – Anytime

There seems like there is a collection of pubs no matter what neighborhood you’re in with London. There are adventures to behold within the walls of those fine establishments. And while you’re getting your photos on, so to speak, you can down a pint or two. What’s not to like?

The great thing about living in London is that a lot of establishments have been around for hundreds of years and offer interesting architecture as well as a good story or two along the way. Between the lighting, the atmosphere, and the people drawn like moths to a light, you’re bound to catch something post worthy.
