Our favorite rainy day activities in London, you know… Just to help us make it through to summer!
Though spring IS approaching and finally, the infamous rainy season in London is winding down. Personally, I’m so accustomed to the rain that it no longer bothers me. But if you are moving to London, and your previous home was not so… challenged when it came to weather, you may be in for a bit of a rough transition.
Like a true American, I am seeking out positivity in a part of daily life that is often inconvenient, and certainly frustrating… But trust me, there really are nice things about this rainy weather. In this post we are going to explore the benefits of London’s cold, rainy weather because, sadly the rain showers are going to be around consistently for a while longer. So new Londoners, soon-to-be Londoners, and everyone in-between, welcome to rain!
Once the summer approaches, the days will be longer, the sun hotter, and the weather drier. That said there are definitely some ways you can make the most of London’s present situation.
We’ve made you a list of suggestions of how you can best cope (or celebrate!) this grey, wet city. So here are some of the ways you can have in the grey, we promise that “splashing in puddles,” did not make the list.
When you are relocating to a new city, especially a foreign one, likely you tried your best to pack and ship as little of your clothing as possible. This means that some of the things you only needed occasionally, like a raincoat may have not made it overseas. Lucky for you, there are a ton of places in London to find fabulous outerwear. Rain gear, especially from “outdoor” stores is often functional but incredibly drab! We recommend that you find yourself some beautiful, chic clothing to wear as you navigate your new, London city. Suddenly, you don’t have to feel guilty about spending hours in a cold, dark place. London’s rainy weather is the perfect way to indulge your inner film geek! There are a bunch of great movie theaters in London. Here’s a link to a list of some of the lesser-known independent cinemas in London. If you aren’t into films, don’t fret! London is teaming with lots of theater-theaters too! If you do end up venturing to Soho to check out the latest theatrical happenings make sure you check out this fantastic wine bar. Warning… It only serves wine, so only stop-by if you’re in the mood! Their wine list is extensive and their small plates are heavenly. If you can, try to sit up stairs. This place is intimate, candlelit and overall, one of the most beautiful places to spend a rainy day or night (especially with a new English beau. 😉
